So, California is scheduled to “open up as usual” on June 15th, 2021. What does that mean? I don’t think it will be as usual. For one, we will be mandated to continue wearing a mask for a while. Also, I’m sure there will be other restrictions that have to continue to keep us safe. I don’t believe we can totally go back to what our normal was before Covid. The normal we knew is gone. I think there’s a new normal in our future.
There are so many questions that need answering for us as individuals, and us as a nation, so that we can all move forward. How do we go from being in our “Covid caves” to back out in the world? And, how do we do it safely? Maybe you’re not ready to leave that “Covid cave”. I’ve already been vaccinated, but has the person sitting across from me at a restaurant or music event been vaccinated? When will we reach herd immunity and the spread of this awful disease is unlikely? Who and what do you believe when you hear so many different things on the news? Europe is in the middle of another surge. Now, we’re in the beginning stages of another surge — ugh!
Then there’s the anxiety you feel. In general, it’s normal to feel anxious about the future. But, how do you process and think about what your future will be after coming out of a pandemic? I’m sure that anxiety, depression, stress, and other problems have increased as a result of the pandemic. Through all of this, I definitely have felt a level of depression. I know that now more than ever it’s important for me to look at myself and take note of how I’m feeling. I need to take time for myself, stay active, eat well, be mindful, and recognize that there is hope on the horizon.
“We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt
(I will be continuing this topic with our Women Helping Others Advance (WHOA) group on Monday, April 19th, at 630p. Please feel free to join in on our discussion via Zoom at this link. I hope to see you then!)
