Life has a 100% mortality rate and we are not getting out of this life alive. So, why not live life to the fullest?! Okay, so that may sound a little morbid, but it’s true. So, why not throw all caution to the wind, or at least make a long list and start checking things off?
I think many of us have built a life of routines. We get into the daily routine that we have created. We made sure the routine is foolproof, it keeps us from being lonely or bored. This routine also keeps us from meeting new people and experiencing life the way it should be experienced.
With the new year upon us, this is the perfect time to reevaluate what you have done in your life and what you have always wanted to do. This is not a New Year’s resolution, this is a bucket list, an ever-changing list of things that sounds interesting, scary, unique, fun, hard, impossible, life-changing, heartwarming or any other emotion you can think of.
To start living your bucket list all you have to do is choose your method of list-making. It doesn’t have to take too much time because remember this process will evolve. I like a pad of paper and a pen, but you can open your computer or your phone and start writing down anything and everything you would love to do or accomplish. Let your imagination go wild. List things regardless of the cost, time or experience it takes. This is your master bucket list. Later you can go back and categorize it into travel, volunteer work, home projects, and personal if you wish.
Once you have your list created, open your calendar, you need a deadline! You can start with something small or easy but you need to put at least one thing on the books and make that your goal and priority. Be realistic but don’t give yourself too much leeway. It’s so easy to let life get in the way. We are creatures of habit. We can find a million excuses for why we couldn’t do this or that. If you set your mind to it and see it in writing, it is easier to make the dream a reality.
This is an exciting time in our lives. Why, because it’s the first day of the rest of our lives. Don’t let the past or negative thoughts invade your mind or your progress. Don’t let friends or relatives derail you from your potential. This is your life and the sky’s the limit. I am starting this journey myself this year. I will be sharing my adventures along the way.
