Gratitude

Whenever I feel down or stressed, I find that focusing on being thankful for all I have rather than focusing on what I don’t have always lifts my spirit. Having an attitude of gratitude can sometimes be challenging but it does help. I know that feeling and being grateful helps to change my perspective on whatever life challenge I’m experiencing. I become more positive and even feel a sense of clarity in dealing with things.

I wasn’t always this way. I used to go to the negative and play the pity card whenever life would deal its challenges. It only made things seem worse rather than what they really were. I guess growing up and gaining a little maturity helped me to figure out that playing the pity card wasn’t the answer to any of my problems. Instead, I figured out that thinking of all that is positive in my life helped to change my perspective and then change the way I would handle a problem. This added a whole new dimension to my life. I’m happier now more than not. I want gratitude to be a part of who I am.

I actually have a daily mantra or I could even say prayer that helps me to focus on all that is good in my life. I call it my gratitude mantra. It goes something like this…

Thank you for this new day

Its beauty, its light

Thank you for my chance to begin again

Free me from the limitations of yesterday

I’m so grateful for my life

My family, my friends

I’m so grateful for all that is good in my life

I’m grateful for all of you and I wish you all the best that life has to offer.
