Dear Self

Life is a journey and for the most part, you have always chosen the more difficult path. You like a challenge, you like the feeling of achievement. In the process, you might have made yourself a little crazy and the people around you.  Fortunately for you, you have a wonderful family and amazing friends that love and support you. Just remember one of the most valuable life lessons is to learn from your past. The paths you walked were not mistakes but roads traveled that lead you to become who and where you are today. As you continue your journey, please keep these lessons close at hand to use as a map for a happy and healthy future.

Dear Self, Verbally express yourself with elegance, without the hurt behind the words, with true emotion and no blame.

Dear Self, Believe that you are good enough just the way you are.

Dear Self, You don’t need the approval of others to validate your decisions in life.

Dear Self, Slow down and smell the roses.

Dear Self, Quit trying to be an expert at everything you do. Find a couple of things you are passionate about and focus your energies there.

Dear Self, Never doubt your intelligence.

Dear Self, Get more sleep.

Dear Self, Listen to the little voice inside. It is usually right.

Dear Self, It’s not your job to fix everyone that crosses your path.

Dear Self, Love yourself just as you are.

Dear Self, When someone compliments you, thank them and enjoy the feeling.

Dear Self, It’s okay to fail.

Dear Self, Before judging, remember that everyone is dealing with their own set of problems.

Dear Self, It’s okay to take a rest day, two or even three, and do absolutely nothing.

Dear Self, You are not perfect and that’s okay. No one is.

Dear Self, When you are angry, take a deep breath and then respond.

Dear Self, Stand up for yourself, but be willing and open to listen for potential growth opportunities.

Dear Self, Always remember you can learn something new every day. So read and re-read this list often, maybe add to it if you find something that inspires you. Life is a journey, not a destination. Every day may not be great, but try to find something good in every day.

Have you written to yourself lately? I encourage you to write to yourself.  No one has to see what you have written. Just be open and honest with yourself and see how you feel.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read our blog. We appreciate your time and support.
