Career Transition

One day you wake up and you are out of a job. You have a few choices. You can cover your head with a blanket and hide, which you are entitled to do. You can hop on the computer, start updating your resume, and look for something in the same field. Or, you can walk to the edge of the cliff looking out, honor the queasy feeling in your stomach and realize you only live once. Today is the day you decide that things happened for a reason and it’s time you make a career transition.

Few people know, from the time they are young, what they want to be when they grow up. Most of us don’t know. Many people land in a job or career that pays the bills and is just good enough. The daily grind of life takes over and before you know it, twenty years have gone by. You might dream about your goals and passion in life, you might even start down the path once or twice, but then that self-limiting belief takes over and before you know it, you are five years older and further from your dreams.

Losing your job may seem like the worst thing in the world and yet it may be the best thing that ever happens to you. If you stop, take a deep breath, gather your support system, and make a plan, you can have everything you ever wanted. You need to sit with anxiety and fear. I know this because I am living this exact thing as I write this post. I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that life can be thrilling and fulfilling, and at the same time frightening.

As I move through my journey, connecting with people, learning what is out there, I am finding amazing people who can teach me, share with me, and impart their wisdom! One of the women I spoke to told me “You can’t grow without recognizing your desire and trusting your fuck yes.” I am now focusing on my desire, which is the universe saying to me are you ready to decide? I have decided that I am ready and things are starting to happen.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted my own business. My vision wasn’t clear, but I have taken a hard look at what I am good at and what my passion is. That process of figuring things out has been eye-opening and fun. In life, it’s important to do what you love, and then it won’t feel like work. When you are doing what you love and you are passionate, you will have fun. It’s an amazing circle and an amazing ride.

I must value my true-self before it’s too late. Losing my job was not a bad thing at all. It has pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me a stronger person. Everything that has happened to me in my life has made me who I am today. I have also learned who my true support system is. I have learned I wasn’t taking advantage of these people by asking for help. These people truly wanted me to reach my full potential as much as I did. When I started to see what they saw in me, doors started to open.

The road to success is not easy and neither is changing your life trajectory, but it can be done. Never tell yourself it can’t.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read our blog. We appreciate your time and support.
