I can go in so many different directions with this subject matter. But, the direction I will take is to tell you what happened to our blog. It started with the adding of a forum to our site, and then came the onslaught of bots. A bot (short for “robot”) is an automated program that runs over the internet. Some bots run automatically, while others only execute commands when they receive specific input. Well, the bots showed up as people signing up, with usernames & passwords, to the forum. At least, that’s what I thought. There were hundreds of them and there were even topics posted for people to respond to. Who knows what happened in our case. All I knew was that what was being posted was FAKE and I wanted it all off the site! I wanted the bots gone!
You can probably guess what happened next. Yep, while trying to delete every one of those so-called sign-ups to the forum, I accidentally deleted our main username/password (administrator) for walkingthroughlifeaswomen.com. This meant that all of our content was gone. WTF did I do! You can imagine how I felt. I fell to the floor, in a fetal position, looked at the disappointment on Lisa’s face, and tried to figure out how to fix it. Thank goodness we had our IT guy (gadgetwebdesign.com) to help us. We realized a few things…The site was not saved (another WTF), but we did have the site, as it was originally published. We have every post and picture and have started the process of reposting everything. It seems very daunting, but it will get done, and at the same time, post all new content.
As you know, our site is about our life lessons. This was definitely a lesson learned. This will never happen again! To our followers out there, please know that it will take time, but our blog site will be back in true form. We have even made a couple of changes. Did you notice our new logo and our new colors? And, heads up — stay tuned for merchandise that will feature our new logo.
Here is what I try to focus on now…
No regrets in life. Just lessons learned.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read our blog. We appreciate your time and support.
